Hey, Fan(g) Club. I know things have been in flux here on the Patreon since ending production. I went back and forth on whether or not to outright end the club, or if there was some way to keep it going that would make sense to people wanting to stay. You've likely noticed the content changes these last few weeks, with full shows being added to our archive here. This is the direction we are headed.
I have reset our tier options to one single tier, and I've changed that from $3/mo to $2/mo. I am not 100% certain, but I believe if you were at the higher tiers, you will need to re-join at the lower tier if you plan to stay. I'm sorry for the extra steps for you, but there's no way around it.
Moving forward, we will be removing physical perks from the Fan(g) Club with the exception of an annual giveaway. All previous video / audio / photo content will remain available. I have set up a section on our page called "Collections" to make things easier to find. Every week, I will be adding episodes to our new episode vault. If you're familiar with how I've run our regular website, HorrorHotel.net, you'll know that we always have a few episodes available to view on there. This is changing, and I'll explain why.
Even without the show being in production, it is still costing me a lot of money to keep it available to you all. I have to pay for:
-a business box with the local shipping center ($200/year), so that I have a return address for mailing packages
-monthly subscription services ($60/month) for my editing programs to continue providing content (cutting down videos into behind-the-scenes, etc)
-a state vendors license and taxes
-yearly renewal of our domain (HorrorHotel.net) and related services
-our web hosting services (which has always been high due to the streaming capability / web traffic / storage capacity for keeping shows available)
In no way will the Fan(g) Club ever cover these things, and that's ok - it isn't anyone's responsibility to cover these things. I've been trying to restructure things in a way that keeps content available without costs being so high. I got a notice recently that our web hosting package alone would be increasing to around $1,600/year. This is not something I am willing to pay. The show has never been for-profit, nor have I been paid for the time I have put into it, and all of this is simply too much.
As of this coming week, we will no longer be offering episodes on our regular Horror Hotel website. Thankfully, there are still free streaming options for those who want to watch weekly online. We have our Friday night showings on The Monster Channel, and the Retro broadcast streams online at WatchRetroTv.com every Saturday night, as well as on their sister site, It's Real Good TV.
Most of you also know the struggles I had trying (very hard!) to get our Roku up and running. I have since given up on that, as it was made pretty clear that it would not be within reach. So, essentially, the Fan(g) Club will be our new Roku.
Starting out, I will be adding two episodes a week, just to beef up our vaults. I have videos set to publish from Season 7 every Wednesday and Sunday through the end of the month. For December, we will have another Christmas marathon, like we did with Halloween in October. I'll load ALL of the Christmas episodes at the start of the month, so you can have your merry marathon whenever you please. After that, we'll get back to putting out Season 7 content. Kind of a random year to start with, but my plan is to toggle back and forth between early seasons and then later seasons. After season 7 is fully available, I will switch back to one episode per week being added, just as one episode per week was added to our Roku. Eventually, my plan is to have Seasons 3 through 10 available on demand here, as well as the previously released exclusive behind-the-scenes content. In the end, it will actually surpass the video capacity we ever would have had on our Roku or website.
My focus has been on getting all of that uploaded and ready to publish, but now I will be wrapping up our physical merch send-outs. I know I am quite behind on these. All of you who are owed packages will get them within the next couple of weeks. I plan to get caught up by the end of the month, and your packages will include extras, since I realize they are going out late. I am simultaneously catching up on fulfillment of some of the last of our store orders. The other change that I've not yet publicly announced is that our physical-merch store online will be closing at the end of the year. I'm working as fast as I can to get things ready and sent off to everyone, but please remember I'm the only person handling any of this, and I have many demands of my daily undead existence that have to be prioritized.
I hope some of you stay. I know not everyone will want to, but at least I am giving options. That's all I can do.
We are so grateful for all of you who have supported us and continued to patronize the show.
